After its seventh series, Love Productions signed a three-year deal with Channel 4 to produce the series for the broadcaster. The first episode was aired on 17 August 2010, with its first four series broadcast on BBC Two, until its growing popularity led the BBC to move it to BBC One for the next three series.

He takes care of his grams and his two younger sisters, something he's done most of his life. Scott is eighteen now and out from under Child Protective Services and the endless foster homes. Five years later, Scott appears on Christmas Eve and wants Marco to go away with him. Marco promises Scott that someday he's going to rescue him and they'll leave California and head off to Alaska and live happily ever after. Sometimes the promises you make to those you love are the most important thing in your world.
